We normally use the facility of our remote to switch off our appliances like TV, DVD, etc. Well actually they are not actually switched off completely, we just keep them on standby mode and yes, it consumes energy. If you are shopping for new appliances, make sure to look for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star label before making a purchase. Energy Star appliances use between 10 and 50 percent less energy and water than their conventional counterparts. They may cost more than appliances without the Energy Star designation, but in most cases they will more than make up that additional cost through energy savings.

Here tips of the best practice for kitchen appliances to save energy:

  1. If you have a washer dryer, try to load clothes as much as possible at once instead of using it several times.
  2. For washing machine users, do not set the temperature more than 30 degrees in order save energy and to prevent your clothes to shrink!
  3. Have your fridge’s door open as rare as possible or use smaller fridge if possible to save space and energy.

I like what this article recommends about installing a programmable thermostat. It makes sense that this could be helpful because it would allow the AC and furnace to work easier. It’s something to remember when looking at all the ways that I can save electricity next year.
