Coconut Papaya Smoothie Recipe
Papaya Coconut Smoothie is an easy and healthy way to get your protein and carbs and protein!
Papaya is often spouted as a wonder fruit, said to possess anti-inflammatory properties and improve the health of those with heart conditions and cancer, in particular, colon cancer. It is a natural remedy for many ailments, including atherosclerosis, heart disease, and rheumatoid arthritis, and helps keep your digestive and immune systems healthy. It also contains the flavonoid beta carotene, which studies have proven to help protect against lung and mouth cancers.
It also contains a digestive enzyme called papain, to assist in the breakdown and metabolism of nutrients, specifically proteins.
Full of tropical flavors, this coconut papaya smoothie is thick and creamy and made with some of my favorite superfoods — each of which are loaded up with healing benefits. This Coconut Papaya Smoothie requires 6 ingredients, 1 blender, and 5 minutes to prepare. And it’s a simple way to power up on the amazing benefits offered by coconut water, fresh papaya, linseed, sunflower, almond meal and raw honey.
INGREDIENTS
- 1/2 small fresh papaya
- Flesh and water of 1 young coconut
- 1 tsp ground linseed (flax seed)
- 1 tsp raw honey (if needed)
- 1 tsp sunflower ground seeds
- 1 tsp almond meal
METHOD
- Blend all ingredients in high-speed blender until smooth.
- Transfer to glass or store in airtight container in the fridge.
Note
Choosing a ripe papaya is like most other fruits. Go for one that is not green but yellow and almost brown. Green papaya is good for papaya salad but for a smoothie we need it to be soft.
First you want to skin the papaya using a paring knife if you have one and cut it in half. Second you want to seed the papaya using a spoon over a trash can.
Next you will want to cut the papaya into small pieces easy to measure and fit in a blender.
